MAP Fund

From 2020-2025, Maya worked at the MAP Fund, one of the longest-running private funding sources for performing arts in the United States.

Beginning as MAP’s Program Intern, Maya was promoted first to Program Associate and later Grants Manager. She led significant changes in MAP’s strategy, including the streamlining of application materials, the establishment of a microgrant program, and the restructuring of the selection process. While MAP sunsetted its grantmaking program in 2025, at which point Maya left the organization.

Maya has worked for a number of other organizations as a consultant, reviewer, or panelist, including IndieSpace, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, YoungArts, New York State Council on the Arts, San Diego REP, Bronx Council on the Arts, Page 83, Egg & Spoon Theatre Collective, and Barrington Stage Company.

The Public Theater

Maya interned at the Public Theater from May 2019-April 2020.

As a production intern, she worked on Much Ado About Nothing, Coriolanus, Hercules, the Under The Radar Festival, and more. She built many tents and made a lot of Gatorade, and had a great time.

As the sole intern of the Public Shakespeare Initiative, she conducted dramaturgical research, handled administrative duties, and assisted on events.
